Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins announced that it presented the Perr Award for 2002 to Jeffrey Campbell, Lester Peters, Gary Grant, David Genter and Kevin Wadell.

The winners were recognized for their invention of a design improvement on fuel injectors that improved the performance of Cummins engines. It has also increased the service intervals on Cummins injectors, leading to lower maintenance costs for Cummins customers.

Cummins presents the Dr. Julius P. Perr Innovation Award each year to recognize innovative contributions of Cummins personnel. The award is named for Dr. Julius P. Perr, a key inventor named on more than 65 U.S. Patents. Throughout Dr. Perr's 40-year career at Cummins, his innovative designs enabled the company to take a leadership role in the diesel engine manufacturing industry.
