FARGO, N.D. - Bobcat formally replaced Melroe as the name for the compact equipment manufacturer.
"It made sense for us to promote one company and brand name worldwide," president and CEO Chuck Hoge said.
The Bobcat brand was adopted by Melroe in 1962 for the company's M-400 machine - the first true skid-steer loader.
The company, a business unit of Ingersoll-Rand, also introduced a new IR Bobcat logo as part of what the Woodcliff Lake, N.J., parent company said is a new corporate identity system being rolled out worldwide this year.
