The Russian Rental Association held its fourth annual conference Sept. 19-20 with speakers from Russia, India, Latin America, the United States and United Kingdom. The emphasis was on emerging rental markets, rental fleet management, financing opportunities for rental companies and other topics.
Two days of networking in Sochi, Russia, resulted in a number of contracts and orders as well as a valuable exchange of knowledge, organizers said.
“This is our fourth big event for the rental industry, and this year we feel a different attitude from equipment dealers and manufacturers,” said Nikita Krotkiy, RusRental president. “Now they show much higher interest in the equipment rental market. This is a long-awaited trend, which proves the Russian rental industry has reached the next stage of its development. The size of the Russian rental market is annually growing by 25 percent and the number of rental companies in Russia is increasing fast. The Russian rental industry is on the right track and is becoming more mature.”
The conference, called the World Rental Summit, was sponsored by Terex Genie, India’s Gemini Equipment and Rentals and Russia’s Petro-Lube. Speakers included Jose Protko from Peru, who helped develop Caterpillar’s rental business in Latin America; Rupert Douglas-Jones, research and development director of International Powered Access Federation; Vivek Soni, co-CEO and chief financial officer of India’s Gemini Equipment and Rentals; Frank Manfredi, president of Manfredi and Associates, Chicago; Oleg Malakhovskiy, director of Russia’s Rental Group, and Krotkiy.
