More than 2,400 exhibiting companies have already signed up for Bauma China in November, despite volatile economic conditions in the construction sector according to organizer Messe München. The massive trade fair, similar but not quite as large as Bauma held in Europe, will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from Nov. 22-25.

“The situation in the Chinese market is complicated, which, of course, is also reflected to a certain extent in a trade fair,” said project group manager Collin Davis. “However, there’s no doubt that bauma China remains by far the biggest and most important sector event in the Asian region.”

The Chinese market is expected to recover significantly in the medium term, organizers said, because of the many new construction projects stimulating machine production, as well as new emissions guidelines that necessitate new systems and machines. According to a forecast by Off-Highway Research, the Chinese market for construction machinery will achieve a sales volume of U.S. $17.169 billion in 2016, a slight upward trend. And while sales figures for construction machinery in China have declines the past few years, the German engineering association VDMA said that in 2015, 20 percent of all construction machinery sold in the world was purchased in China, which was the second largest individual market after the United States.

Organizers expect more than 180,000 attendees.
