Volvo Construction Equipment has named Vincent Tan president of Volvo CE’s Asian sales region, effective July 15. Based at the company’s Asian headquarters in Singapore, Tan, a Singaporean national, will lead a region important to Volvo CE for its present sales and the significant growth expected to come from Asia in the coming years.

Since joining Volvo in 2000, Tan has played an important role in the development of Volvo CE’s distribution network in Asia, especially in China and India. In his most recent position, Tan was president of the rapidly growing Southeast Asian sub-region. Before joining Volvo, Tan was director of Ingersoll-Rand’s operations in Southeast Asia.

Tan succeeds Eberhard Wedekind, who was recently named executive vice president of sales and marketing.

“Vincent knows Asia inside out, and — as he has shown in his role in Southeast Asia — has proved that he can grow a business in a profitable way,” said Wedekind. “Not only that, he is well-respected by our customers, dealers and employees. His leadership role now is to build on the solid platform we have established in Asia, further developing markets such as Indonesia and Southeast Asia, where there is tremendous potential for growth.”
