New Zealand Rental Group, holding company of New Zealand national rental company Hirepool, last week announced the sale of two retail distribution companies, Nationwide Equipment and Power Plant Supplies to the group’s retail division general manager David Lee.

Group chief executive Tenby Powell, said the sale of the units would enable the group to focus on its core rental business, which now has more than 80 branches. The rental group includes Hirepool as well as specialist divisions such as Hirepool Energy, which concentrates on the generator and pump business, portable toilet specialist Port-A-Loo and events rental company Carles Marquee.

Powell said he expects to announce another acquisition before the end of 2008.
