JLG Industries recently announced it has begun a major expansion in Perth, Australia, which will dramatically improve its service to access equipment customers in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The upgrade of resources includes new premises, additional specialist staff, greatly increased service facilities and a total overhaul of spare parts arrangements and stock holdings.

Lindsay Phillips, JLG Industries state manager in Western Australia and the Northern Territory, is overseeing the expansion program, continuing the growth that began with the opening of JLG’s first branch in Perth 13 years ago.

The cornerstone of the company’s plan to massively boost its customer service levels in Western Australia is the construction of new premises in Welshpool. Work will start soon on the new complex, which will be four times the size of the existing JLG facilities nearby.

The new premises will provide a base for JLG staff whose numbers in the West are set to climb by almost 50 percent as part of the expansion. Many of the new employees will be specialist field service technicians, fulfilling the company’s promise to undertake a major upgrade of customer service and support at all levels.

JLG also announced the appointment of Brett Cook to fill the role of sales manager for Western Australia and the Northern Territory as a further move to serve the region’s expanding economy. Cook will strengthen ties between JLG and users of its access equipment in the West, many of whom are undergoing their own expansions.

Another key expansion move is a complete reorganization of JLG spare parts arrangements to further improve the support provided to customers in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Stock holdings of spare parts in Perth will double under the plan, which includes even more radical changes to expedite deliveries.

“We are lifting our response to the needs of JLG equipment users all over Australia,” said Andrew Satterley, the company’s general manager in Australia and New Zealand. “In Perth we’ll achieve this not just by building larger premises and employing new staff, but by creating a warehouse facility which sources its stock directly from JLG factories in Europe and America.

“This will ensure that spare parts reach users much sooner than would be the case if they were trans-shipped through Sydney. It’s a big step, but we are determined to provide the best possible customer support wherever JLG access equipment users are located.”

JLG Industries’ expansion plans will give it strong representation in the West.
United Equipment Pty Ltd also distributes the JLG range of aerial work platforms to end user markets in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
