Aggreko, world leader in temporary power and temperature control services, has supplied power to Ras Al Khaimah Co. for White Cement, one of United Arab Emirates’ leading producers of high-quality white cement. RAK contacted Aggreko when one of its gas turbines failed and standby power had been shut down for annual maintenance, causing a significant reduction in capacity.

RAK produces 450,000 tonnes of specially blended white cement dust per year. Within three days of receiving the call, Aggreko had power generators up and running, providing the company with 6 MW at 6.6 kV for an initial two-week period, which was extended to three weeks when RAK required additional repair time.

Aggreko provided round-the-clock support in extreme conditions, with onsite temperatures reaching 50 degrees C during the day (122 degrees F).

“Our technicians are used to the highly mobile nature of our work,” said Phil Burns, managing director, Aggreko Middle East. “One day it could be Ras Al Khaimah, another it could be Jeddah. What is important is the focus on getting the job done quickly, safely and efficiently.”

Aggreko, No. 6 on the RER 100, is based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston.
