United Rentals last week announced the successful completion of its previously announced consent solicitations from bondholders. The required majority of holders of each issue of outstanding bonds and QUIPs securities consented to the amendments and waivers the company was seeking, allowing it additional time to file financial results and comply with a Securities and Exchange Commission inquiry.

United also announced the opening of two new trench safety rental branches, in Pensacola, Fla., and Chester, Pa. Both locations offer underground construction equipment rentals, sales and services, along with a range of contractor supplies.

The Pensacola opening will enhance United’s ability to supply equipment during hurricane season. “Reconstruction from Hurricane Ivan was still ongoing when the Pensacola area was hit by Hurricane Katrina,” said branch manager Jeffrey Allen. “We are pleased to be in a position to help with the recovery effort.”

The Chester, Pa., branch will serve customers in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware.

United’s trench safety branches rent steel and aluminum trench shields, aluminum trench shores, steel sheet pile with modular wailing systems, steel crossing plates and custom slide rail systems, as well as a range of confined space ventilators, detectors and other equipment.

Based in Greenwich, Conn., United Rentals is No. 1 on the RER 100.
