British rental company Speedy Hire announced its acquisition of Lloyds British Hire in a transaction valued at close to U.S. $6 million. The acquisition comprises Lloyd’s entire lifting and tool equipment rental division, but excludes its powered access business.

Speedy has 30 locations in the Midlands region of England and 12 in the Birmingham area. Lloyds is based in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham, and its six branches provide Speedy Lifting with facilities in areas previously identified for greenfield expansion. Speedy said it acquired Lloyd’s for its strength in the industrial services sector.

Speedy Hire is based in Newton-le-Willows, United Kingdom.
