Charlotte, N.C.-based Sunbelt Rentals last week announced that George Rubel of Toledo, Ohio, won the $10,000 grand prize in the Sunbelt Rentals “Rent. Fix. Build.” Project Sweepstakes, which ended Feb. 27, 2006. Rubel was randomly chosen from more than 380,000 sweepstakes entries.

“Sunbelt is thrilled to provide George with this cash prize and we hope it will allow him to complete his own home makeover,” said Chuck Miller, Sunbelt Rentals’ executive vice president. “A common misconception is some think we service only large contractors with large equipment, but that is not all we provide. Our goal through this sweepstakes was to encourage all types of homeowners — weekend warriors and smaller contractors — to consider Sunbelt for their equipment needs. We are very pleased with the success of this program and look forward to hosting another sweepstakes soon.”

Just for entering, Sunbelt gave away free gardening or leather-palm work gloves. In addition, each week the company gave away 10 collectible die-cast equipment models, for a total of 240 weekly winners.

Sunbelt Rentals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashtead Group plc, is No. 4 on the RER 100. The company says it is looking into sponsoring a similar sweepstakes in the future.
