Rain For Rent, a major player in the rental of pumps and other liquid-handling equipment, has registered its fleet with the National Equipment Register to deter theft and increase the chances of recovering stolen equipment.

Through its 24-hour hotline and the Internet, NER provides identification advice and ownership information from its databases of millions of equipment theft and ownership records to law enforcement seeking to identify stolen equipment.

The mobile inventory of all Rain for Rent locations in 22 states are being marked with NER decals that warn thieves that the equipment is registered on a national database used extensively by law enforcement. NER now has more than 1,000 law enforcement agencies using their databases regularly, already resulting in the recovery of more than $4 million of stolen equipment. Nearly 2,000 rental facilities are currently participating.

Rain For Rent is based in Bakersfield, Calif.
