National Trench Safety, a Houston-based company that rents and sells underground safety equipment, last week acquired C.C.S.S. Services, known as Mikedon, a Houston-based trench safety and traffic safety equipment rental company with about 30 employees. Mikedon founders Mike Stanley, Ed Bradshaw and Don Goins will remain with the company.

“[Mikedon] is one of the fastest-growing and most crisply operated specialty rental companies in the trench and traffic safety industries,” said NTS president and CEO Ron Chilton. “The three founders of Mikedon have done a spectacular job of building a very profitable company and have established a tremendous market presence in five short years.”

NTS plans to invest additional growth capital in the newly acquired business and use NTS Mikedon as its hub for all its Texas operations. NTS, which was formed in January of this year, plans to acquire additional specialty rental companies and open strategically located startup operations in target cities across the country. The acquisition of Mikedon is NTS’ first. Chilton, who previously served as president of the Plank Co. and played a major role in the growth of National Equipment Services’ trench shoring division, told RER other acquisitions are forthcoming.
