New Zealand rental giant Hirepool strengthened its presence in the portable sanitation market with its acquisition of Auckland, New Zealand-based Port-a-loo, the country’s most established portable sanitation provider. Hirepool’s managing director, Tenby Powell, said Port-a-loo’s inventory will be added to Hirepool’s existing portable equipment including portable toilets, barriers and fences, creating a new division within the company.

The acquisition of Port-a-loo is part of a nationwide expansion by Hirepool. Powell took the company’s reins in July, 2003, as part of a consortium that bought Hirepool from Owens Group in May of last year. Hirepool has opened six branches in the past 10 months.
