Xylem Inc., a global water technology company focused on addressing challenging water issues, this week announced it will expand its dewatering rental offerings in Brazil over the next three years. Xylem is a global leader in pumps and services for dewatering, bypass and drainage applications for use in construction, mining and a wide range of industrial applications, as well as in emergency water removal. The company maintains a fleet of more than 15,000 portable electric and diesel-driven rental pumps and related equipment worldwide. In Brazil, Xylem will first strengthen its dedicated dewatering rental departments in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, before launching new dewatering rental services at additional locations in 2013 and 2014.

“The addition of Godwin Pumps in 2010 to our existing Flygt range has given us a strong position from which to grow our dewatering portfolio," said Mike Kuchenbrod, president of Xylem’s Water Solutions business. “This most recent expansion in Brazil demonstrates Xylem’s ability and eagerness to tap into a growing demand within the construction industry related to both onsite dewatering and rental services.”

Xylem’s full range of Godwin surface-mounted and Flygt submersible pumps is available to rent, including the recently launched Ready pump and the expanded Flygt 2600 drainage range. Xylem’s rental fleet now also includes the Godwin diesel surface pump, which is suited for bypassing sewer systems, drainage and large water transfer projects. The Godwin portfolio includes a full range of ‘silent’ models, specifically designed for densely populated areas.

“We are noticing an increased demand within the construction industry for dewatering services to be supplied as a complete package, including the pump and water treatment systems, engineering expertise and project management," said Tomas Fernandez, marketing manager for Xylem’s Latin America rental and dewatering services. “The Xylem onsite dewatering service provides customers with turnkey solutions from a single source, limiting customers’ administration, and management efforts and costs.”

Headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., Xylem is a water technology provider, enabling customers to transport, treat, test and efficiently use water in public utility, residential and commercial building services, industrial and agricultural settings.
