Providing comic relief for out-of-work construction workers, Volvo Rents is bringing its Hardhat Comedy Tour to Modesto, Calif., tonight.

The Hardhat Comedy Show will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at FAT CAT Music House & Lounge on 11st St. Admission is free to the public with the donation of at least three non-perishable food items or a frozen turkey to the Second Harvest Food Bank, or a monetary donation. “The economy has been goofy globally and we wanted to create something for contractors that got them out and also got the community out for a night of laughter, but also giving back to a charity,” said Helder Garcia and Brian Silveria, owners of the Volvo Rents stores in Salida and Merced, Calif.

Volvo Rents, a provider of small- to medium-sized construction equipment, launched the Hardhat Comedy Tour in November 2008 and has since taken its spin on comic relief to various cities across the U.S.

The Modesto show will be headlined by nationally renowned comic Matt Kazam, who has appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing;” Comedy Central’s “Stand Stand Up” and VHI’s “Fools for Love,” among others. Other featured comics will include D.J. Melvin and Eric Mill.
