Leonard Sedillo, a 28-year veteran of the rental industry, is the new general manager of Las Cruces, N.M.-based Action Equipment Rental, after a nine-year stint in the same position for Salt Lake City-based Diamond Rentals.

Sedillo began his rental career with A-1 Rental Centers in Las Cruces, then owned by Hotch Manning. At A-1 Sedillo worked closely for years with Action owner Joseph Muench. Both Sedillo and Muench took management positions with national rental company RentX after it acquired A-1 in the late 1990s. Muench got the opportunity to buy back the former A-1 locations several years ago.

“I’m really excited about going back to work in my home town where I can be closer to my family,” Sedillo told RER. “And I’m very excited to work with Joseph who I worked with at A-1 as well as RentX. Joseph is a great operator and has a great vision for the rental business. He really wants to grow the business and even though these are challenging times, this is a fantastic opportunity. Joseph has put together a great team and I look forward to help build and develop it.”

Action has five southern New Mexico stores, three in Las Cruces, one each in Alamaogordo and Silver City. Four of the branches are former A-1 stores.

Sedillo added that he had greatly enjoyed his years with Diamond. “It was a great company, we had a great team and a lot of growth,” he said. “But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work in my home town again.”
