Used Equipment Values Rise in April, Past Six Months, Rouse Reports

Used equipment values across 14 major rental equipment categories increased 0.5 percent in April according to the latest report from Rouse Asset Services. For the six months ending April 30, average index values are up 1 percent. April 2013 auction sales of rental and construction equipment averaged 1.9 percent higher than Rouse’s liquidation values for March.

Also February 2013 rental rates increased 0.2 percent relative to January and are up 6.5 percent compared to February 2012 for the rental companies participating in Rouse’s Rental Metrics Benchmark Service.

Liquidate values increased highest for air compressors in April, at 2.8 percent, followed by articulating boomlifts and telescopic boomlifts at 2.3 percent. For the six-month period, articulating boomlifts had the highest increase in price at 7.6 percent, followed by scissorlifts at 4.6 percent, telescopic boomlifts at 3.8 percent, skid-steer loaders at 2.7 percent and high-reach forklifts at 2.6 percent.

Aerial work platforms was the equipment category most purchased in April at 41 percent, with JLG the top brand at 32 percent.
