TNT Crane & Rigging, one the largest lifting service providers in the United States, has acquired Rocky Mountain Structures and its subsidiaries. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

RMS, based in Denver, is one of the largest crane and rigging services companies in the Rocky Mountain region, serving Colorado and the surrounding states. Founded in 1977, RMS has longstanding ties to the area and a diversified customer base, making the business a natural strategic fit for Houston-based TNT, which has expanded with several acquisitions in recent years.

The acquisition expands TNT’s contiguous geographic coverage, end-market exposure and fleet composition with the addition of three Colorado branches and 66 cranes. RMS serves the manufacturing, industrial cell tower, power, commercial and construction markets as well as other industries in the Rocky Mountain region. With access to TNT’s resources and management experience, RMS will continue to provide service with enhanced capability to take on larger and more complex projects.

“RMS provides TNT further geographic expansion in the western U.S. as well as end-market diversification through Colorado’s broad group of industry sectors,” said Mike Appling, CEO of TNT. “The depth and breadth of our combined capabilities and experience is a tremendous benefit to all of our customers. Cody [Gilliland] has built an impressive team and we are excited to welcome them to the TNT family.”

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with TNT,” said Gilliland, CEO of RMS. “The company is an industry leader with a proven successful track record not only for profitable growth but also for building a culture that puts its people first. The economic outlook is solid for Colorado and the end markets we serve. In addition, the combined company will benefit from opportunities in the energy sector when oil prices and drilling activities return to sustainable levels.”

Kregg Lunsford, TNT president said the acquisition of RMS reinforces TNT’s commitment to partnering with best-in-class operators. “RMS has demonstrated exceptional growth over the last several years by providing superior service and execution.”

Founded in 1985, TNT Crane and Rigging is one of the largest crane service providers in North America with an inventory of hydraulic truck, all terrain and crawler cranes with lifting capacity up to 1,300 tons, plus a comprehensive inventory of gantry jacks, forklifts, rigging equipment and tractor/trailers. With the addition of RMS, the company now has more than 1,500 employees with 38 branches and more than 620 cranes.
