Sunbelt Rentals has acquired Rentalex of Michigan, which has served the southwest Michigan area since 2001.

Sunbelt Rentals has acquired Rentalex of Michigan, which has served the southwest Michigan area since 2001. Rentalex has two general rental locations in Kalamazoo, Mich. The company serves a general contractor and homeowner clientele, carrying equipment from manufacturers such as Genie, Hilti, Husqvarna, Vermeer, Honda, Terex, Wacker Neuson and Multiquip.

While the Rentalex locations in Michigan are recent, the Kreuger family that started them has been in the equipment business since 1929, according to the company’s website. Tom Kreuger, son of founder Walter Krueger, opened the first Rentalex store in Tampa, Fla., in 1982, and the company also has branches in Lakeland and Hudson, Fla. Jeff Kreuger opened the Rentalex store in Kalamazoo.

The acquisition strengthens Sunbelt Rentals’ presence in Michigan. Based in Fort Mill, S.C., Sunbelt Rentals is No. 2 on the RER 100.
