Stephenson Equipment, a seven-location equipment rental company, has opened a crane repair facility at its Harrisburg, Pa., headquarters. The 12,000-square-foot facility has a 40-foot ceiling height with four 100-foot-deep bays, a 15-ton two-hoist overhead crane spanning the entire building and radiant floor heat.

“We also constructed a new 4,000-square-foot test pad giving us the ability to better inspect and test a crane after repairs have been completed,” said Dale Heiner, vice president of service operations for Stephenson.

Stephenson Equipment has more than 125 employees at its seven Pennsylvania and New York locations.

“There is something that was said to me many years ago by Stephenson Equipment owner Dennis Heller,” Heiner said. “Always try to do what is right, for our customers and for Stephenson Equipment. If what we do benefits both, then it is the right thing to do. This new crane shop reminds me of that statement.”

Heiner added that the crane facility enables Stephenson’s staff to shorten repair time and improve quality because of the ability to perform more repairs within the shop safely under all weather conditions.
