Galen Hopper, a veteran of many years in the equipment rental industry, died last week at the age of 63.

Galen Hopper, a veteran of many years in the equipment rental industry, died last week at the age of 63. Hopper, who worked for Volvo Rents and then BlueLine Rentals as manager of fleet purchasing from 2005 through 2014, was a popular and gregarious person, well-liked and well-respected in the rental industry.

Hopper most recently worked with JLG Industries.

 “Galen was a true professional and a great friend to me and the rental community," said Michael Crouch, president and chief operating officer for Acme Lift, Mesa, Ariz., who worked with Hopper for years at Volvo Rents. “He will be sorely missed.”

Hopper worked for more than 25 years in the equipment rental industry. Born in Sweetwater, Texas, he had recently moved back there. The memorial at his funeral noted that he was “the life of the party and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He loved to hunt, fish, grill, tell stories and live life to the absolute maximum.”

Hopper is survived by his wife Bonnie, son Matt Hopper (who worked in the rental industry), daughter Kimby DeWolf and seven grandchildren.
