Dickie Moore, owner of Dickie Moore Rentals in Montreal and a National Hockey League Hall of Famer, was seriously injured in an automobile accident last week, according to Canadian press reports. Moore, 75, suffered fractures to his neck and lower back when his car was struck by a truck as he was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot during an intense rainstorm August 20.

Moore’s daughter Lianne Moore said her father suffered seven broken ribs, some knee damage and internal bleeding, but there was no paralysis or damage to his spinal cord.

Moore was removed from intensive care three days after the accident. His condition is being monitored by Montreal Canadiens team physicians, among others. Reports said that at one time Moore slipped into a coma and that former Canadien teammates held a round-the-clock vigil at his bedside.
Moore, a Montreal native, won six Stanley Cup championships as a left-winger with his hometown Montreal Canadiens from 1951-1963. Known as a feisty, yet gregarious and fun-loving player, Moore won NHL scoring titles in the 1957-58 and 1958-59 seasons. In 1958-59, his 96 points set an NHL record at the time.

After his playing days, Moore founded Dickie Moore Rentals, more commonly known as Location Dickie Moore, in St. Laurent, a Montreal suburb. For decades Dickie Moore Rentals has been one of the leading construction rental companies in Quebec, and now has Ontario branches in Ottawa and Toronto.
