Southend Tool & Equipment and Miller Power Equipment Sales & Service, Zanesville, Ohio, are closing their doors on the 25-year anniversary of the businesses’ start, April 1. Co-owners Dan Miller and son Shiloh Miller have decided it’s time to close up shop and are liquidating the company’s assets.

“It was a decision my father and I made some time ago,” Shiloh Miller told RER. “It’s not something to be sad about. We had great success for 25 years and it’s time to move on. We are debt free and have a lot of assets.”

Miller said the company has already sold almost 50 percent of the company’s assets. It will then hold a special sale for the public and then send remaining items to auction. Miller said it would probably take another month to sell off remaining items.

Miller said the country’s economic issues were a factor in their decision, along with the degradation of rental rates that eroded profit margins.

The Millers gave employees two-month notice and have assisted them in finding new jobs. Miller said they will continue to pay them through April 15. The Millers are looking at offers for the building and property as well.
