The New Jersey Commerce Commission last week agreed to pay more than $7 million to help remediate brownfields in Fort Lee and Ridgefield Park, enabling United Rentals to expand its Ridgefield Park facility.

The commission board voted to fund the projects under the Brownfields Redevelopment Incentive Program, which reimburses developers up to 75 percent of their remediation expenses.

The state will pay $3.2 million for the United Rentals remediation project, and the remainder on other local construction projects.
