The National Center for Construction Education and Research, Gainesville, Fla., announces that the sixth annual Careers in Construction Week is Oct. 18-22.

Careers in Construction Week is designed to increase public awareness of the hard work and contributions to craft professionals in the United States. It promotes recognition among parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and students of the rewarding career opportunities available in construction.

Contractors, schools, and industry associations throughout the U.S. will conduct career fairs and various construction-related activities to help promote construction career opportunities in their community.

As part of this week, NCCER will debut the 2010 Build Your Future career recruitment video on its website www.byf.org. The BYF video is distributed free of charge and features interviews from real craft professionals. This year’s video will feature such construction projects as the Marlins baseball stadium and the NASCAR Hall of Fame and is 15 minutes in length.

Duplicate copies of the BYF video will be available after the broadcast and can be ordered via the website. Organizations planning an event during this week are encouraged to submit their event online at byf.org.

NCCER is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) education foundation created by the construction industry to develop standardized curriculum with portable credentials and to help address the skilled construction workforce shortage. For more information, visit www.nccer.org.
