Linamar Corp. announced today that it has named aerial rental industry veteran Steve Shaughnessy president of Skyjack Inc., a Linamar subsidiary based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Shaughnessy, a veteran of more than 30 years in the aerial and crane rental industry, will succeed Ken McDougall, who will run Linamar’s Powertrain Mexico operations.

Shaughnessy most recently served as managing director of Loxam Access, one of Europe’s largest rental companies, since late 2007. Before that Shaughnessy was managing director of U.K. rental company A-Plant’s specialty products business. Shaughnessy grew up in the crane and aerial rental business, working in various management capacities for Shaughnessy Crane Services until it was acquired by NES Rental in 1997. Shaughnessy continued to run that business for NES, later going on to serve as regional vice president and chief operating officer for NES, before leaving to join A-Plant in the U.K.

Shaughnessy is currently a board member and deputy president of the International Powered Access Federation, the leading association for the promotion of the safe and effective use of aerial work platforms throughout the world.

“Steve Shaughnessy has unparalleled experience of working in the aerial lift industry at a senior level in both North America and Europe,” said Linamar president and chief operating officer Jim Jarrell. “We believe that this appointment will offer significant benefits both to the organization and to our customers who have come to depend upon Skyjack as synonymous with quality and innovation in the aerial lift market.”

Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz added: “Steve is a proven executive who delivers results with a great track record for business growth, exactly what we need for today’s opportunistic global market.”
