Oilfield rental specialist Light Tower Rentals has broken ground on a new facility in Dickinson, N.D., Prairie Business Magazine is reporting. LTR, which was founded in 1994 with the initial purpose of renting self-contained lighting equipment for use at oilfield jobsites, has since expanded to 14 locations in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Pennsylvania and North Dakota.

The company, which received an infusion of capital in 2008 from merchant bank Clairvest Group and McKenna Gale Capital, also includes generators, light towers, trailer packages, air compressors, pumps, drill pipe, downhole tools, frac tanks, flowback tanks, winch trucks, heaters, trucks and tornado shelters.

LTR became a major player in North Dakota renting to companies working in the Bakken shale oil fields. The company is active in the community, sponsoring events at the high school, and car racing and rodeo events.

LTR is based in Odessa, Texas.
