Kirby-Smith Machinery, one of North America’s leading equipment distributors and rental companies, has named two new vice presidents/general managers to replace recently retired Glen Townsend, who served as VP and GM since 1996.

David Cooper, who joined the company in 2012, was named vice president/general manager, South Division, promoted from his previous role as North Texas Area Manager. Cooper, based out of the Dallas branch, has nearly 40 years of experience in the equipment industry.

“My philosophy has always remained the same, with a focus on core values,” Cooper said. “Take care of the customer in a fair and honest manner. I enjoy helping customers build their businesses by finding the right equipment to meet their needs and backing that equipment with outstanding parts and service support.”

The new role of vice president/general manager North Division will be filled by Jeff Weller, who will be based out of the Oklahoma City branch. Weller joins Kirby-Smith Machinery from Link-Belt Mid-Atlantic in Mechanicsville, Va., where he worked for the past 28 years, most recently serving as general manager. Weller has 35 years of experience in the equipment industry.

“Growing up, my dad and grandfather ran a Ford dealership in Southwest Iowa,” Weller said. “They taught me to deal with customers honestly, fairly and directly. They also taught me not to hide from problems, never over-promise, and always try to exceed expectations.”

Kirby-Smith has 10 branches in Oklahoma, North and West Texas, Kansas and Missouri. A major player in rental, Kirby-Smith is No. 28 on the RER 100.
