Indoogoo, the construction industry’s first social and trading network, is launching its “My Rentals” service, utilizing geolocation technology to create comprehensive search results from both local equipment rental companies and other Indoogoo users.

“My Rentals” is designed to help users easily locate and rent heavy equipment. It is the first online rental service to provide access to a variety of listings from a number of different sources. Users range from large well-known rental companies to smaller local traders. Anybody can search the listings for the best local rental deals.

The My Rentals process is designed to be simple. After signing up for free at www.indoogoo.com, users looking to rent equipment can search for the machinery they need, specifying the exact location where it is needed.

The geolocation technology compares the search criteria to all equipment near the given location, and the user is presented with a customized map showing all suitable machinery in the area. Each piece of equipment is marked with a flag. By hovering over a flag with the cursor, the user can see the details of the listings in brief, and by clicking on the flag the user is taken straight to the full listing page. From this point, the potential user can contact the rental company directly to request a quotation. Conversely, those looking to put their equipment out on rent simply upload their listing and specify their location to be added to the map.

According to Indoogoo founder and CEO Mark Turner, this type of service is unprecedented in the equipment rental market.

“My Rentals uses a geolocation service to help users track down the exact equipment they need,” Turner said. “For the first time in the industry, professionals have a comprehensive, live database of local rental options, as well as a visual representation of where equipment can be found nearby. This simplifies the whole process and, because Indoogoo is a social network, contacting the rental companies is easier than ever. Simply send a personal message or contact request to start the ball rolling.”

The website also gives users the opportunity to buy and sell heavy equipment, providing the capacity to create unlimited listings with up to 10 photos and four videos. Indoogoo keeps contact data strictly private and does not share these details between users.

Indoogoo.com is also home to Yard Talk, a discussion forum for heavy industry.
