It’s not every day that one of the top five rental companies changes CEOs. But when two of the top five change CEOs on the same day it’s pretty big news. Gerry Plescia has resigned as president of Hertz Equipment Rental Corp., and Hertz Corp. chairman and CEO Mark Frissora is taking over on an interim basis as the company conducts a search of candidates. And CEO Joe Phelan has left Sunbelt Rentals, his place taken by chief operating officer Brendan Horgan, widely considered one of the brightest young minds in the rental industry.
