Equipment Watch Releases Winter Mega-Auction Analysis

Florida auctions by Ritchie Bros., Alex Lyon & Son, and Yoder & Frey, combined with IronPlanet’s online “Biggest sale of the Year,” accounted for $358.6 million in auction revenue, according to the 2013 Winter Mega Auction Analysis from Equipment Watch. With a total of 28,004 lots at an average equipment age of 9.5 years, the mega auctions all took place in February.

The new report says Ritchie Bros. led the way with $176.3 million at its auction, along with $18,804 average per lot. Yoder & Frey had the most lots, 10,683, while Alex Lyon & Son offered the lowest average equipment age of 6.4 years.

The report also offers auction sales analysis such as average price per model year for crawler-mounted hydraulic excavators, 4-WD articulated wheel loaders, and skid-steer loaders, dating back to 1994.
