Delta Rigging & Tools, one of the largest rental providers of lifting and rigging products and related services in the United States, has acquired Grizzly Wire Rope & Chain, Williston, N.D. The acquisition gives Delta a well-established location in the center of the Bakken Oil Shale region, providing strategic growth opportunities in the growing oil and gas development activities across a multi-state area.

“We had been looking for a way to expand into the Bakken Shale area for some time,” said Kevin Rodgers, CEO of Delta Rigging & Tools. “After a careful review of the Grizzly Wire Rope & Chain operations, it became clear that taking a well-established and growing operation like Grizzly and making it part of Delta Rigging & Tools was the best strategic move for us, and the best way to serve our existing and new customers working in the Bakken.”

Rodgers praised the Grizzly management team for building the business with a customer focus similar to that of Delta.

Grizzly Wire Rope & Chain first opened in 2007 to supply the Williston Basin area with wire rope, chain, hardware, cordage, web slings and associated services to customers working primarily in the oil and gas industry, but also in transportation, agriculture and other areas. The company will officially begin trading as Delta Rigging & Tools over the next few months and all of Grizzly’s employees are expected to remain with Delta. The Grizzly operations will be part of Delta’s Rocky Mountain Region, headquartered in Grand Junction, Colo.

“We were recently recognized here in Williston for our entrepreneurial growth over the past several years, and we believe that the Grizzly rigging and lifting business can continue that growth and do an even better job serving this market as a part of Delta Rigging & Tools,” said Stewart Vachal, Grizzly’s primary shareholder along with Rory Anderson and Dean Klein. “Delta brings with it tremendous purchasing power, exclusive distribution rights to some of the best brands in our industry, and a reputation for outstanding customer service.”

During the past several years, Delta Rigging & Tools has executed a strategy of acquiring and integrating high-performance regional market leaders to create a scalable platform across the U.S., and plans to continue to pursue further growth initiatives through acquisitions, geographic expansion and additional product and service offerings.

Based in Pearland, Texas, Delta Rigging & Tools is No. 78 on the RER 100.
