In the absence of a convention this year, the California Rental Association has decided to take the vendors to the people with a series of mini-trade-shows held at rental centers around the state.

With 35 to 40 CRA associate members participating on a nightly basis, CRA started this past week with vendor nights at BJ’s Rents in Poway, Calif. (near San Diego), American Rentals in Bellflower (east of Los Angeles) and AV Equipment Rental in Newhall, northeast of L.A.

The vendor nights will continue July 28-31 with stops at BS&E Rents in Visalia on Monday; Aba Daba Rents in Sacramento Tuesday, and then San Francisco Bay Area events at All Star Rents in Vallejo, and All-American Rentals in Newark.

“It’s been much like the old days,” Don Cruikshank of AV told RER. “We really appreciate the vendors getting out and supporting the rental centers, and it has been a great opportunity for rental people to meet face to face with vendors as well as share ideas with each other.”

CRA executive director Dale Blackwell told RER that CRA will return to the convention concept in 2009, holding a rental rally at the Fairgrounds in Bakersfield, Calif., Feb. 25 and 26.
