The New Haven, Conn., branch of Genie dealer Tri Lift Inc., recently provided a Genie S-85 telescopic boomlift to install the Christmas tree in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. This year’s tree, a 76-foot Norway spruce that will be decorated with 45,000 LED lights, was moved by flatbed trailer from its home in Connecticut and set in place on Nov. 8.
Tri Lift received a call from its regular rental customer, Tishman Speyer, a NYC building-management company, requesting an 85-foot boom to assist in the tree erection process.
“The main part of the actual raising of the tree was handled using a massive truck crane,” said Tri Lift rental manager Mike Degennaro. “But the Genie boom was critical for the rigging crew who needed it to manage the guy wires that secure the 12-ton tree after it is placed in its pedestal.”
Tri Lift has branches in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, as well as locations in North Carolina and Virginia.
