Carr Hardware in Pittsfield, Mass., has opened Carr Rental right next door, iBerkshire.com reports. The new store expands the previous offering for rental that was offered by Carr Hardware by tripling the size and breadth of items available to rent, the website says. Carr Rental will offer general tools and equipment as well as party goods.
Carr Hardware was already offering rental on a more limited basis as part of the Just Ask Rental cooperative. Carr was founded in 1928 by Sam Carr and acquired by the Raser family in 1962. Still operated by Marshall Raser and his son Bart, Carr Hardware and Carr Rental remains a family-owned and operated business.
Carr Hardware also has locations in Lee, Great Barrington and North Adams, Mass.
