Bellingham, Wash.-based Birch Equipment this week announced its stores as a drop-off location for the Toys for Tots program in the Pacific Northwest. The company, in its 14th year supporting the program, carries a full stock of toys from $1 to $200, and gives customers an easy way to help families in the Whatcom, Skagit and Island County, Wash., communities donate to Toys for Tots this year.

Birch’s “Toy Tour” includes Melissa and Doug art, puzzles and oversized stuffed animals. Customers can grab Green Toys brand fire engines, garbage trucks and kid-sized utensils — even the packaging for these toys are made with recycled products. Kids can become engineers with Kinex and Erector collector kits or have fun with a practical joke kit. Construction-themed plates and utensils and CAT brand toys will appeal to budding builders.

Local radio station 92.9 KISM hosted its morning show live at the Bellingham, Wash., location from 6 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, and encouraged listeners to donate to Toys for Tots during the show to get a Birch Beanie while supplies lasted.

“Birch started adding construction-themed toys to our stores a number of years ago and had so much fun, that we’ve brought in more and different toys, puzzles, art supplies and educational items ever since,” said Jeninne Duncan, Bellingham store manager. “Sure, we like to work hard. But we’re basically kids at heart, and we want our customers to have fun when they come in. It’s definitely worth the trip to one of our locations.”

From now through Dec. 16, area residents are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for children ages 2 to 12 to any Birch location or as a convenience, may purchase toys directly from Birch Equipment.

No. 91 on the RER 100, Birch Equipment is a leading, independently owned construction equipment and sales company in the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska. Birch Equipment has stores in Bellingham, Anacortes and Mount Vernon, Wash., and Sitka, Alaska.
