Bellingham, Wash.-based Birch Equipment Rental and Sales is now a certified U.S. Department of Transportation Disadvantaged Business Enterprise in the state of Alaska for construction equipment rentals and leasing. The certification makes Birch Equipment a resource for prime and sub contractors working on large transportation projects around the state. Birch is also DBE certified in the state of Washington.

“This certification allows Birch Equipment to participate in federally funded projects with both state and federal DOTs,” said fleet manager Jordan Mellich. “Birch is looking forward to assisting contractors and government agencies meet goals established for working with small and disadvantaged businesses on projects with federal funds attached.”

The U.S. Department of Transportation's DBE program was developed to create a level playing field in the award and administration of DOT-assisted contracts at the state level, covering the Department’s highway, transit, airport and highway safety financial assistance programs. In Alaska, the program is administered by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities Civil Rights Office.

Birch Equipment is an independently owned construction equipment and sales company in the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska with seasonal coverage from Western Alaska to Montana. It is No. 93 on the RER 100.
