Ameco Celebrates 60-Year Anniversary

Greenville, S.C.-based Ameco is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Launched in 1947 as the equipment division of Daniel Construction Co., Ameco eventually was acquired by Fluor, now based in Irving, Texas.

In this anniversary year, Ameco, which now specializes in site services and fleet outsourcing, is opening a new office in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; supplying mining equipment and services in Antofagasta, Chile; delivering equipment to the oil industry in Sakhalin, Russia; and is mobilizing a project team and equipment to Madagascar.

Ameco has almost 1,600 employees serving clients across four continents, 17 countries, 37 office locations and multiple customer sites. The company has set significant benchmarks in safety performance, currently having surpassed 16 million safe work hours from March 2001 to the present with no lost-time injuries.

Ameco delivers integrated equipment and tool solutions through its three primary businesses — Fleet Outsourcing, Site Services and Distribution. Fleet Outsourcing assists clients in government and industrial markets, including heavy industrial, power and manufacturing facilities, with management and maintenance of fleet, tool and asset-management functions. Site Services provides a complete service package consisting of equipment, tool and construction indirects to capital construction projects. Distribution focuses on the sale, rental, parts and service of new and used equipment in Latin America.
