Houston-based Aggreko is continuing its strategy for steady growth in Canada with the addition of a new location in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The 4,200-square-foot facility will provide storage for products, spare parts and supplies, and with three staff based on site, will help provide a quicker, more comprehensive response for local customers.

“After eight years serving the oil sands industry, including two years operating in Fort McMurray from our nearby Edmonton service center, we felt it was time to have a more local presence,” said Dennis Haller, vice president, Aggreko Canada. “We are thrilled to be able to provide immediate service and quicker emergency response to our customers in the area.”

This is the latest move by Aggreko to expand its operations in Canada. In August 2008, the company acquired Alberta-based rental power specialist Power Plus Rentals and Sales to support the oil and gas industries of Western Canada. In addition, Aggreko is constantly improving its cold weather-dedicated power fleet to improve its reliability and reduce the need for troubleshooting in the extreme environment of the oil sands.

“This new facility will benefit both Aggreko and our area customers,” said Donal Russell, operations manager in Fort McMurray. “The combination of Aggreko’s global presence, Canadian expansion, and innovative equipment make it uniquely positioned to offer the best, most reliable service in the region.”

Aggreko will supply the area with all the company’s major rental product lines, including power generators from 30 kW to 1,500 kW; temperature control units, including chillers, cooling towers, air conditioners and electric heaters; oil-free air compressors; and refinery grade heat exchangers.

The facility will also feature Aggreko Process Services, an experienced process engineering team within Aggreko that helps refining customers improve their processes and operations to enhance bottom-line performance and address environmental concerns. The APS team is unique to the rental industry and can design and install projects faster than considered possible with traditional capital projects.

Aggreko also operates service centers in Toronto, Edmonton and Sarnia, and is the official supplier of temporary power and temperature control solutions for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Aggreko is a world leader in the supply of temporary power, oil-free compressed air and temperature control solutions. It is No. 10 on the RER 100.
