Subaru Robin
Subaru Robin introduces a new line of compact gasoline generators powered by its EX series overhead cam engines. The new generator models include the RGX2900, RGX3600, RGX4800 and RGX4800E, offering maximum outputs ranging from 2,900 watts to 4,800 watts. The generators are powered by engines in the 6-hp to 9-hp range. The generators are lighter and smaller than previous models because of the compact design of the EX engine. All RGX generators include a standard anti-icing feature, which draws air warmed by the engine into a tube and redirects it to the air intake. In cold weather conditions, the warm air inhibits ice buildup on the air intake and helps prevent the generator from shutting down when it is needed most. A low-tone arrestor muffler reduces the generators' sound output.

Yanmar's YDG model generators deliver non-fluctuating portable diesel power in 2,700-, 3,700-, and 5,000-watt ratings. A single tank of diesel will keep the direct-injected, air-cooled diesel gensets on the go for up 15 hours, depending on load factors. Yanmar's LV Tier 2 air-cooled diesel engines have parts and service support available throughout the Americas. The company has reduced the footprint on the generators by up to 30 percent from some previous models. PowerSource generators are also lighter than their predecessors, making them easier to move around the jobsite, the company says. Featuring low noise signatures, the units are designed for night work and other noise-sensitive applications. The generators feature environmental skidbases that provide a minimum 110 percent containment of all generator fluids, which promotes safer worksites and minimizes the potential for environmental contamination. Should fluids collect in the basin, a warning indicator immediately alerts operators to the condition. The high-capacity fuel tank is sized for 24-hour operation.

The Kubota engine features two standard shutdowns: low oil pressure and high coolant temperature. Shindaiwa Construction Products refined its kWiet Power diesel generator line by upgrading its 45 kVA model to ultra-quiet status, the company says. The improved DGK45C model, with noise levels of 53 dBA at idle and 56 dBA at full load is designed to operate with sound levels below normal conversation.
