Identity Thieves Target Louisville Rental Companies

General contractor Lichtefeld Inc. has been victimized by identity theft, the company reported to the Better Business Bureau of Louisville. According to online reports, the company said thieves have impersonated company employees, put the Lichtefeld name on the side of construction trucks and stolen more than $50,000 worth of items from rental centers, hardware stores and equipment dealerships by opening accounts in the company name.

Thieves have set up accounts for tool and lift rentals and construction materials, the company said.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is urging anyone with information about the identity theft to contact the department.
