TECSYS Inc., a supply-chain management software company, last week said that Fenton, Mo.-based Fabick Cat has selected its EliteSeries Warehouse Management System to streamline its parts distribution operations, become paperless and improve customer service.

Founded in 1917, Fabick Cat is the authorized dealer of Caterpillar Equipment, prime and standby power systems, parts and service, compact construction, rental and pipeline equipment for 99 counties in central and southern Missouri and southern Illinois. Fabick’s service department has more than 160,000 square feet of under-roof service area, and stocks more than 120,000 items at its 14 parts locations. A major rental player, Fabick Cat is No. 27 on the RER 100.

Needing to reduce expenses, overtime and operate more efficiently with the same number of people, increase fill rate and order accuracy, the company saw improvements at several dealers who used TECSYS’ system.

“Our goal is to become virtually paperless,” said George Belobrajdic, general parts manager for Fabick Cat. “Fabick is handling a critical parts distribution and services business that needed a higher level of sophistication from a technology point of view. TECSYS came with exceptional WMS capabilities; highly recommended by customers in our industry. We were particularly impressed by TECSYS’ proof of delivery and eTRAC applications as they will allow us to manage and view shipments from order creation to electronic signature capture at Will-Call or at the final shipping destination; all paperless.”

The software is interfaced to Caterpillar’s Dealer Business System. It includes Caterpillar-supplied bar codes, cubic dimension for Caterpillar parts, eTrac’s proof-of-delivery and event-tracking applications and real-time visibility throughout the distribution process.

“With 16 percent market share in North America and growing, TECSYS has become the standard technology for Caterpillar dealers’ parts distribution operations,” said Peter Brereton, president and CEO of TECSYS.
