JLG Industries

JLG's new compact telehandler is designed with features for use in a variety of applications where compact size and maneuverability are needed, including landscaping, agriculture and general construction. It has a lifting height of up to 23 feet with a maximum capacity of 6,600 pounds and a forward reach of 12.8 feet. Features include a cab design for improved operator vision and 140-degree carriage rotation. A mechanical quick switch enables fast changes from forks to other attachments such as the general-purpose bucket, a digging bucket and a truss boom. Other features include a 100-hp Deutz diesel engine, 4-wheel drive, 45-percent gradeability and compact dimensions.

Flannegan Western

Flannegan Western's compact telehandler/forklift with a 3,000-pound load capacity is designed using modular and standard components that are used throughout the company's products. Modular design features offer 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive models and 32-, 45- and 65-hp choices. With an overall width of 7 feet, the telehandler is capable of operating in tight spaces. An aerial work platform, controlled from the platform, makes this a one-man operation. Various available attachments make this a versatile machine.

Gehl

Gehl's CT Series of telescopic handlers are designed for versatility and can be used in almost any construction, agriculture or landscape application. The CT-Series units feature maximum capacities from 5,000 pounds to 7,000 pounds, maximum lift heights from 16 feet, 2 inches, and rated capacities from 5,000 pounds to 6,000 pounds. The pilot-controlled hydraulic system allows precise handling of large loads, and the hydraulic quick-attach system allows fast changes of attachments. This system features a hydraulic circuit for attaching buckets and forks without leaving the cab. A hydraulic locking feature is included to avoid accidental actuation of the auxiliary circuit. A wide variety of attachments are available, including a selection of forks, carriages, buckets and hay tools for loader and material handling applications.

Ingersoll Rand

The VR-518 telescopic material handler from Ingersoll Rand has a maximum capacity of 5,500 pounds and a maximum lift height of 18 feet, 2 inches. It is designed for construction, municipality, landscaping, industrial and rental markets. The tool carrier has a rugged, two-section boom with a high-rotation carriage, exhibiting digging ability at 7,300 pounds breakout force. The low-boom mount of the VR-518 allows increased right-side visibility, and a high-mounted, fully enclosed cab allows visibility to all sides of the machine. A hydraulic quick-attach system on the boom allows the operator to change attachments without leaving the cab.

Manitou

Manitou's MT Series of telescopic handlers includes the MT 6642 and the MT 8044. The MT 6642 has 42 feet of lift height with a rated operating capacity of 6,600 pounds. The larger of the two, the MT 8044, will lift 7,000 pounds to the full lift height of 44 feet and 8,000 pounds to 37 feet. Both models feature a welded box-section design boom, making them one of the strongest on the market. Increased operating capacities are achieved without the use of stabilizers or fluid-filled tires, although for added stability stabilizers are an optional feature. Rear axle stabilization is provided on the new MT Series machines, which improves stability when the boom is raised more than 60 degrees, when the parking brake is applied, or when the work platform system is activated.

Genie

Eight new models of telehandlers join Genie's line of lifting equipment. Formerly Terex, the models have been reengineered for better service access and a more ergonomically designed cab. The models have more than 100 design improvements overall. The low-pivot models GTH-5519 and GTH-6622 have maximum lift capacities from 5,500 to 6,600 pounds. Compatibility with multiple attachments makes these models versatile. High pivot models — GTH-636, GTH-644, GTH-842, GTH-844 (pictured), GTH-1048 and GTH-1056 — feature maximum lift capacities up to 10,000 pounds and maximum lift heights from 36 to 56 feet. Proportional joystick controls allow for precise positioning of boom and forks.

Caterpillar

Caterpillar introduces the TH560B telehandler featuring a new design to provide increased performance, easier operation, versatility and reduced maintenance. The TH560B has an operating weight of 26,450 pounds and a rated load capacity of 10,000 pounds. With three steering modes — 2-wheel, crab and circle steer — the telehandler can maneuver in tight spaces with a turning radius of 12.7 feet. Maximum lift height is 44.25 feet and maximum forward reach is 30.2 feet. A standard rear axle lock engages automatically when the boom is lifted more than 45 degrees, enhancing stability.

JCB

JCB expands its Loadall line with the 524-50 and 527-55 models of telehandlers. The models feature a two-section low boom that is designed to provide visibility to the back of the machines. The 524-50 has a maximum lift capacity of 5,000 pounds at its full height of 16 feet, 5 inches. The 527-55 has a maximum lift capacity of 6,000 pounds at its full lift height of 18 feet. The Loadalls use less fuel and run quieter while providing high torque and power output, according to the company. Both models are equipped with a JCB Tier II-approved, 4-cylinder direct-injection, water-cooled diesel engine that delivers 83 hp at 2,200 rpm.

Mustang

Mustang's Value Series of telescopic handlers now features models 642 and 844. Model 642 has an increased lift height of 42 feet. Model 844 has a rated lift capacity of 8,000 pounds and a lift height of 44 feet. The models also feature pilot-operated joystick controls, a new tilt cylinder and an optional work platform system that allows for the safe use of a personnel work platform attached to the forks. A spring-applied, hydraulically released parking brake is automatically applied when the engine is shut off, the boom is raised over 60 degrees or the work platform system is activated. A rocker switch is used to apply the brake, which makes the parking brake easy to use and eliminates problems like cable stretch that are found on hand-lever-actuated parking brakes.

Bobcat

The Bobcat VersaHandler V518 features an 18-foot maximum lift height and a 5,500-pound lifting capacity for lifting heavier payloads higher. It is powered by a turbo-charged, liquid-cooled 105-hp diesel engine. Standard equipment includes enclosed heated and air-conditioned cabs. The VersaHandler TTC also features a heavy-duty hydrostatic ground drive for shifting on the fly between high and low drive-speed ranges. The automotive-style transmission makes the machine easy to operate, the company says. VersaHandler tool carriers have dynamic braking, allowing controlled movement, such as inching up or down slopes, on the jobsite.
