Komatsu Drops 2 Percent Year over Year for Fiscal First Half

Oct. 31, 2012
Net sales declined 2 percent for the six months of its fiscal year ended Sept. 30. The delayed recovery of Chinese demand for construction equipment and the slowing demand for equipment for use in coal mines in Indonesia had an adverse impact on Komatsu’s sales.

Net sales declined 2 percent for the six months of its fiscal year ended Sept. 30. The delayed recovery of Chinese demand for construction equipment and the slowing demand for equipment for use in coal mines in Indonesia had an adverse impact on Komatsu’s sales. The negative was partially offset by stronger demand for construction equipment in North America and Japan.

Segment profit declined from the corresponding period last year, mainly affected by reduced volume of sales and the Japanese yen’s appreciation against the Euro.

The company has made no changes from its projection for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
