Terex Awards Light Tower to the First Response Team of America

Terex Corp. last week awarded The First Response Team of America a Terex AL4000 light tower for use in the non-profit organization’s natural disaster response and mitigation work.

“The First Response Team is a truly unique organization that in the aftermath of a tornado, flood, hurricane or other natural disaster brings needed manpower and equipment to a community and goes right to work to assist regional first responders in rescue, road clearing, or other emergency priority assignments,” said Ron DeFeo, Terex chairman and CEO. “Until recently, the team did not have a light tower in its specially tailored equipment package. We are gratified to think that one of our Terex light towers will be used to literally help light the way for the team’s work and that of other emergency responders.”

The heavy-duty Terex AL4000 light tower features a 30-foot galvanized-steel mast topped by four 1,000-watt, metal halide lamps. It is powered by a 6,000-watt generator with a 13.6-hp diesel engine capable of lighting up to 7.5 acres. The Terex donation includes replacement parts intended to keep the light tower working through heavy sustained use in an emergency setting.

“We are able to mobilize rapidly and our uniquely engineered equipment and experienced teams are a welcome resource to the officials who have locked down communities and restricted entry due to storm-related safety hazards,” said Tad Agoglia, president and founder of First Response Team of America. “We are equipped to provide immediate assistance and restoration to the individuals and families hardest hit by the natural disaster, without remuneration.”

The First Response Team of America deploys nationwide to assist communities in the first critical hours when safety is of premium importance. Using heavy equipment and advanced technology, the team identifies and accesses disaster sites throughout the United States, bringing help and hope to those in need. Additional information is available at www.firstresponseteam.org.

Westport Conn.-based Terex Corp. is a diversified global manufacturer with 2008 net sales of $9.9 billion. Terex operates in four business segments: Terex Aerial Work Platforms, Terex Construction, Terex Cranes, and Terex Materials Processing & Mining.
