SBH Tiefbautechnik (SBH), a German-based company specializing in the design, engineering, manufacture and sales of slide rail systems, trench boxes, aluminum shoring, steel sheet piles and other specialized underground safety equipment announced last week that it has opened a new U.S. company called SBH North America. The new company has begun to manufacture a complete line of trench shields at its new Houston-based manufacturing plant.

“We are very excited about our new American manufacturing operation,” said Wolfgang Deussen, president of SBH. “We are one of the largest manufactures of trench safety equipment in the world. Our equipment is sold through a dealer network in over 50 countries. For many years we have been supporting our U.S.-based dealers by shipping products made in our German plant to the U.S. As our business in North America continues to grow, we felt it was time to establish a U.S.-based manufacturing company to eliminate the time and cost to transport the products from Europe. We also felt strongly that Houston was the right location for our new manufacturing plant since it has excellent manufacturing personnel and is centrally located to allow us to fully support our dealer network.”

Rodney Lanning, the new SBHNA director of sales and marketing, has more than 15 years of direct experience in the trench safety industry.
