New VP Ron Johnson predicts strong growth for Solar Technology.

Solar Technology Inc. hired former MMD Equipment president Ron Johnson as vice president of sales and marketing. Johnson, a 30-year veteran of the construction equipment and highway safety industries, most recently served in the same position with Wanco Inc., and also has worked for Allmand Brothers in a similar sales management capacity.

Johnson will eventually assume responsibility for Solar Tech’s sales and marketing efforts, domestic and international. He replaces John Hayes, who will devote 100 percent of his efforts to the Agile Displays division of Solar Technology Inc.

Johnson, a native of New Orleans, has lived in the Philadelphia area since 1994, and will work out of Solar Tech’s Allentown, Pa., headquarters.

“I really feel that Solar Technology is poised for phenomenal growth,” Johnson said. “A lot of companies grow their sales without investing in a supporting infrastructure. But Solar Tech built a strong foundation and now has a solid base on which to expand its market share.
