JLG Awarded Military Contracts for Telehandlers

JLG Industries has received a $3.6 million Foreign Military Sales order from the U.S. Army’s Tank-automotive Armaments Command (TACOM) for 54 JLG G6-23A telehandlers.

JLG Industries was awarded a United States Army $33.7 million contract for 214 JLG All-Terrain Lifter Army System (ATLAS) II telehandlers.

JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corp. company, last week announced that it has received a Foreign Military Sales order from the U.S. Army’s Tank-automotive Armaments Command (TACOM) for 54 JLG G6-23A telehandlers. Valued at $3.6 million with delivery scheduled to begin in August, this is the latest order under a 2006 contract with TACOM for JLG telehandlers. It brings the total value of the contract to $26 million and 386 units, all of which are working in the field for the Afghan and Iraqi governments.

“JLG telehandlers have a myriad of applications and have proven to be exceptionally useful and reliable tools for military forces around the world,” said Denny Buterbaugh, JLG vice president – government products and programs. “These telehandlers are destined for Iraq to support the Iraqi military in construction, rebuild and material handling applications as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.”

JLG will manufacture the telehandlers for this order at its facility in McConnellsburg, Pa.

The company last week also received an order from the United States Army for 214 JLG All-Terrain Lifter Army System (ATLAS) II telehandlers. This contract is valued at $33.7 million, with the first units scheduled for delivery in September.

“This contract demonstrates JLG’s ability to design and manufacture the next generation of military telehandlers capable of meeting the stringent durability, reliability and productivity requirements of the U.S. Army,” said Buterbaugh. “We are excited about the ATLAS II and its ability to build on the stellar reputation for material handling versatility, superior reach and the rough terrain performance of the original ATLAS machines.”

The ATLAS II is designed to reach into trucks or shipping containers, lift loads over obstacles, and pick up loads from both above and below grade. It has a maximum reach of 28 feet and loads of up to 10,000 pounds can be lifted as high as 17 feet.

ATLAS has been in production since 1998, and there are more than 2,500 ATLAS machines currently working in the field for the U.S. Army. The ATLAS II machines will be manufactured in McConnellsburg, Pa.

JLG Industries is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of access equipment. The company’s diverse product portfolio includes leading brands such as JLG aerial work platforms; JLG, SkyTrak and Lull telehandlers; and an array of complementary accessories that increase the versatility and efficiency of these products. JLG is an Oshkosh Corp. company.
