Komatsu CEO Top-Rated Japanese CEO by Harvard Business Review  

Masahiro Sakane, chairman of Komatsu Ltd., the parent company of Komatsu America Corp., was recently named one of the best-performing CEOs in the world, according to a recent Harvard Business Review article. CEOs on the list were selected from nearly 2,000 CEOs of large public companies worldwide, and were ranked based on the performance of their companies over their entire time in office — or, for those still in the job, up until Sept. 30, 2009. Sakane served as president and CEO of Komatsu Ltd. from June 2001 to June 2007....

Briggs & Stratton to Reimburse Workers for Reduced Wages 

Engine manufacturer Briggs & Stratton last week said it would reimburse workers 75 percent of wages lost during a temporary wage reduction last year. The Wauwatosa, Wis.-based manufacturer said it would also restore 401k contributions that were suspended from July 2009, along with a 10-percent pay reduction for its salaried employees in the United States....

Makita Launches Sixth Straight Season with Suzuki Racing 

Makita U.S.A., manufacturer of industrial power tools and accessories, last week announced its renewed partnership with Suzuki Factory Racing for a sixth straight season. Husqvarna to Add Workers in Nebraska, North Carolina 

Swedish outdoor power equipment manufacturer Husqvarna last week said it will invest $2.75 million in its new North American headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., providing 160 jobs. A $2.5 million state subsidy is facilitating the investment, the Charlotte Business Journal reported, as officials in South Carolina were attempting to lure the manufacturer there....

Godwin Pumps Names Asset, Logistics and Transportation Manager 

Godwin Pumps last week named Bill Price to the newly created position of asset, logistics and transportation manager.
